Dear Lovington Grade School Families:
We are writing and sending you this letter to invite you and your family to the upcoming Holiday Concert on December 9th starting at 6:00 P.M. in the Lovington Grade School Gym, Please have your child at their grade school classroom by 5:45 P.M. MASKS are required for all students and audience members.
We have put on this type of event for several years. The children in each of the grade levels have been learning several songs during their Music class that they will perform the night of the program. Your child will be one of the many “stars” of the show. This night is shaping up to be a fun and entertaining event and we would like for you and your family to be a part of the Holiday festivities.
Organizing an event such as this into one grand performance has been a challenge, but I am confident that you will enjoy the result of our hard work. Every student in each one of the Music classes plays an important role in the overall performance, but we also realize that this is a busy time of year. If, by chance, your child is unable to attend please let their Music or classroom teacher know ahead of time so they can plan accordingly. Please find below some important details that will answer some of your questions concerning our program. If you have any further concerns pertaining to the Lovington Holiday program, you may direct your questions to their Music teacher. Thank you for your support and for your help in preparing the children for this important event.
Is my child required to attend the concert?
Every child who has been preparing musical selections in their Music classes at school is expected to be in attendance and participate in the program. It is realized, however, that conflicts may arise, especially at this busy time of the year. In the event that your son or daughter will not be able to attend the concert, please either notify their Music Teacher or classroom teacher of your student’s absence. Write out a brief note and send it to school with your child sometime prior to the event.
What should my child wear to the performance?
Please have the students wear something that celebrates and makes a “statement” about the festive and fun Holiday Season that we are commemorating with our program of Music. Ideal attire for your child to wear to this concert is nice, dress-up clothes.
Where can my child practice their songs at home?
Students may practice their songs online at home by going to my Faculty Webpage at: https://sites.google.com/cusd305.org/kindergarten/home Then click on Home and scroll down to their class.
What time should I have my child at the grade school for the performance?
The concert will start promptly at 6:00 P.M. Please have your child at the grade school no later than 5:45 P.M. Students should come to their classrooms and meet their classroom teacher. The students may leave their coats and other belongings in the classroom and when it is time for the program to begin, one of the junior high teachers will be helping to guide each class to the gymnasium just prior to their performance. This will help with “the flow” of the program by having that teacher bring each of the classes to the gymnasium. Right after the performance the students will be returned to their classroom where they will remain until the end of the program. The classroom teachers will have holiday movies playing and crafts for the students to do to keep them occupied while the rest of the program is going on.
.
How long will the concert last and when will I be able to take my child home after their performance that evening?
The concert should last about one hour. I am optimistic that we should be finished by 7 P.M. at the very latest. Performing on the concert will be the Pre-School Students, Kindergarten through fourth grade classes, the Fifth and Sixth grade Chorus, and the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Band. Students will be expected to stay with their class with their classroom teacher for the duration of the program. If for any reason you and your child need to leave before the end of the program, we ask that you sit at the back of the gym so as to not cause a distraction for the other performers.
IMPORTANT:
**Since the gym will undoubtedly be packed with people, it is imperative that your child be on his/her best behavior at all times. Please be courteous of others during the performance by holding the noise level to a minimum and by remaining in your seats. If there is a lot of noise and movement from the audience it can be a huge distraction for the performers. The students have worked far too hard for their efforts to not be heard over the crowd noise. Again, thank you in advance for your cooperation with this matter!**
Thank you for your support and help. Please call Lovington Grade School at 873-4318 for questions.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Rosenbaum, K-4th Vocal Music, 3rd Grade Handbells, 4th Grade Recorders, Band, and Chorus Director
