ALAH Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

Our Leadership Skills class is planning Pink Week to help bring awareness to breast cancer awareness and research. The class has planned a guest speaker along with a highly anticipated student vs teacher volleyball game Monday night, a knockout tournament Tuesday during flex period, hat day, and jersey day.  All monies raised will be donated to the Mills Breast Cancer Institute in Urbana.  They are also assisting the volleyball team during their Dig Pink Game on Wednesday when they face Arthur Christian School. And we will PINK OUT at our last home football game on Friday, October 21st.

Beginning next week our students will be participating in a screening that assesses students’ strengths and student’s grasp of important skills that will help them grow and succeed throughout their school years and even after they graduate. These skills are known as social and emotional skills and include taking responsibility for their actions, working well with others, and more.  It will measure eight skills: self-awareness, self-management, personal responsibility, decision making, goal-directed behavior, social awareness, relationship skills, and optimistic thinking.  The data will be used by us to guide us on what skills we can teach in the classroom to support students.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me and here is a link with more information.

Student Council is sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday Nov. 1 from 9:30-1:30 in the gym.

Students 16 years and older are eligible to donate.  You or your student may sign up using online.  Mrs. Sluder may be contacted at sludert@cusd305.org and will be happy to help with any questions.

Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for October 26 and October 27th.  And yes, even if your student is in high school, we want you to join us!  Questions, concerns or talking about your student’s strengths and future are all great parts of parent teacher conferences.  Next week you will receive an email with information about how to sign up.  Conferences are available in person, by phone or through a Google meet.  We are all looking forward to working together to help make your student’s high school experience the best it can be.

Mrs. Seegmiller
