ALAH Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

If you follow us on social media, you have been seeing all of the activities that are happening at ALAH this week.  Our A & P, Ag Science, Zoology, and Biology classes have been busy typing their blood, looking at the intestines of a cow, dissecting crayfish and extracting DNA from a strawberry!

On Sunday afternoon, our National Honor Society will induct their newest members in a ceremony that includes a performance by a brass quintet and special speaker Brett Behrens.

Next Thursday evening FFA will be hosting their end of the year banquet and celebrating all of their accomplishments this year.  One of the favorite parts of the banquet for our students is a catered meal by Neimergs.  Our newest officers will take their oaths and be seated, scholarships will be awarded and we will thank our past officers for their hard work.

Our Spring Concert has finally landed on a date. (Scheduling is not an activity for the faint of heart!)  Mark your calendars for May 17th in the east gym.  Arthur Grade School 5th-8th grades band and choirs will have their concert at 6:15 and the high school chorus, percussion ensemble and band concert will start at 7:30. There will be a break between the two performances.

Specific news for a few of our classes …

Freshmen Class of 2025: If your student sold cookie dough items from the fundraiser those items will be delivered to the high school on Thursday, 4/28. Pick up is between 3:15 and 5:30 on that day. You can pick up the items by pulling into the circle drive and coming into the cafeteria doorway. Your items must be picked up on this same day as most of the items are frozen.

Sophomore Class of 2024: The sophomores are currently selling Double Good Popcorn. Orders are due Friday, April 29th.  Juniors Class of 2023: The Junior class has been putting the final touches on planning our Prom.  On Saturday, May 7th the Junior Class will be hosting prom at The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater in Decatur.  The parents of the junior class have also been hard at work preparing for post prom which starts at 10pm on May 7th and lasts until 6am on May 8th.

Seniors Class of 2022: If you are connected with a senior, it’s time to really hang on as the last days have begun and are going to fly! Graduation caps and gowns will arrive on Monday morning with a pick up time at 8am in the cafeteria. We are now 7 days away from our departure date for the senior trip to Washington, D.C. and students will be meeting everyday with their group leader to plan even more. Senior Spotlights are starting, so watching for those on our social media outlets. (Seniors have forms to share this information.  This is code for please encourage your senior to check their email and complete their forms!)

Enjoy this beautiful Friday afternoon and keep following us on social media for our latest activities.

Sincerely,

Steffanie Seegmiller, Principal Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School
