ALAH Weekend Update Logo

Hello Knight Family:

One of the craziest parts of spring is the ever changing weather and the tease of sun and warmth.  One of the best parts of early spring is all the activities that happen at the high school. Next week is a great example as we have our Student Council hosting their first ever Pickleball Tournament on Monday evening at 6 p.m.  We have faculty and students involved and I think it is safe to say the competition is going to be fierce!  And our baseball, softball and track teams are kicking off their seasons next week.

Also next week Leadership Class is beginning their class assignment to lead, plan and implement a school wide event.  This is quite the undertaking each semester. This semester they have decided to bring awareness to an organization called Paws and Stripes.  Paws & Stripes provides animal-assisted therapy and other mental health services to military veterans and their loved ones living with service-connected trauma. Our students have planned dress up/spirit days, which are listed below, and a dodgeball tournament on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.  Their goal is to raise $500 for Paws and Stripes.

On Thursday 15 members of our band will head to the Lincoln Prairie Conference Honor Band at Bement High School to practice with our other members from the Conference and will perform at 7pm. On Thursday morning the band will have an extra long combined final practice before they leave for their Nashville trip on Saturday morning.

Coming in a few short weeks our Drama Club is performing, “The Alibis.”  Stay tuned for performance times for the weekend of April 2-3.  On the following weekend the Fine Arts Boosters will be hosting their annual Dessert Theater to showcase the talents from all areas of our fine arts programs.

We are halfway through the second semester which means spring concerts, honor night and graduation are on the horizon.  But first, spring break!

Sincerely,

Steffanie Seegmiller, Principal
Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School
