Hello Knight Family:
Yesterday, we took time to honor our Veterans with a short program and then spent time writing letters, making Christmas cards and learning about the dedication of all the men and women who have served. Our Ag Business Class and FCS classes partnered to make lunch and offered a drive through for our veterans to pick up lunch. We had planned to have our program outside so everyone could join us, but the rain forced us indoors. We hope you were able to join us through Facebook. We are hopeful that next year, we will be able to return to the traditional program and activities with everyone joining us in person.
Last weekend we celebrated the Cross Country team placing 2nd place at the state competition in Peoria! It was a beautiful morning and a great way to close out the fall sports season. Our student athletes have been working since the summer in so many of the fall activities that we offer. A shout out to all of the cheerleaders, marching band members, soccer team, golf, volleyball, cross country and of course football. Our student athletes have dedicated hours and we are proud of their accomplishments. Thank you to all of our parents and families that do so much to support our athletes. The grab and go meals, all of the rides, washing the uniforms, we couldn’t do it without you.
We were disappointed to have to cancel the student council blood drive today. The Red Cross notified us last night that they didn’t have enough staff to run the event. We are hoping to reschedule. Stay tuned for details.
Next week we will be having our mandated active shooter drill. As we mentioned in a separate email last week, there will be no shots fired (blanks or otherwise) during this drill. We will be practicing what the options are if there were an intruder in the building. You will receive an email early next week with more information. Our goal through all of these drills is to keep our students safe.
Tonight is the Red & Gold Scrimmage for the girls and boys basketball teams! We hope you will join us at 6 p.m. in the new gym. Regular season for the girls starts on Monday and the boys kick off the following week. It’s going to be an exciting basketball season.
Have a great weekend and #GOKNIGHTS!
