Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

Earlier this week, we learned from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), that six of our students were named Illinois State Scholars.  We would like to recognize our Class of 2022 Illinois State Scholars for their outstanding academic achievement.  These students are in the top 10% in the state based on their class rank and SAT scores. This year's scholars are Max Allen, Jacob Duzan, Reggie Edmonds, Delaney Gillis, Jace Green, and Sarah Rafferty.

This week our DAR and SAR Good Citizens were announced. These seniors are chosen by the faculty based on their dependability, character, service and patriotism. This year's DAR winner is Sarah Rafferty and the SAR winner is Jace Green. Congratulations to all of these seniors on these accomplishments.

The Illini Prairie CEO is hosting a golf outing at Iron Horse Golf Course tomorrow, Saturday, November 6th from 9am-3pm. This is the class business for this semester.  The cost is $55 per person and teams will be groups of 4. This includes 18 rounds and a chance to play an additional side of the mini-game. If you plan to sign up as an individual they will put you in a group. If you have questions please contact Kelly Toto at 2022ktoto@cusd305.org. Please come and support our CEO class and have fun!

On Tuesday, our chorus will be traveling to Kansas High School for the Lincoln Prairie Conference Choral Concert.  Our chorus will rehearse all day with all of the conference chorus students and then perform a concert at 7 p.m.  The concert is open to everyone and will provide an outstanding performance.

Also coming up next week, we are honoring our veterans by having an outside service at 8:15 am in the morning along with a letter writing campaign and a drive through lunch for our veterans.  We are sad that we aren’t able to host our traditional assembly, but thankful for every opportunity we have to honor and thank all of those that have served.

Don’t forget our Student Council is also hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, November 12 from 9:30 - 2:00.  For an appointment visit www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code Arthur HS.  You may also contact Mrs. Sluder, our student council sponsor, at sludert@cusd305.org with questions. Students who are at least 16 years old can donate with parent permission.  We have 15 appointments scheduled and are hoping to have 35. Community members can sign up too!

Last but certainly not least, our Cross Country Team is heading to the state finals in Peoria on Saturday morning.  They won sectionals last Saturday for the second straight year and we believe they will finish strong on Saturday.  There is a community reception on Saturday evening at 6 p.m at the high school to celebrate their accomplishments.  This is open to everyone in the community.  Please come by to help us congratulate them on all of their hard work and an outstanding season.

Have a great weekend  and  #GOKNIGHTS!
