Hello Knight Family:
We were so excited to meet with so many of you for parent teacher conferences this week. Thank you for taking the time to connect and work with us. We value these opportunities. If you weren’t able to join us and would like to meet with your student’s teachers, just let us know and we will make it happen.
On Monday, our Student Council is sponsoring a Halloween Costume Contest before school starts. Prizes will be awarded for best in Teacher Category, Makeup, Funniest, most Original, Best DIY, Best Group. The contest is held in the gym at 8 am! This is an annual tradition that is lots of fun for all of us.
Our Student Council is also hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, November 12 from 9:30 - 2:00. For an appointment visit www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code Arthur HS. You may also contact Mrs. Sluder, our student council sponsor, at sludert@cusd305.org for any questions. Students who are at least 16 years old can donate with parent permission.
On Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the old gym there will be a community meeting and we are looking for input from all community members as we address a long-range facility improvement plan to solve facility needs and to plan for the future of our school buildings. There are multiple meetings planned both in person and virtually. Your student received a flier on Thursday to bring home and it is linked here, UKnighted. We hope you will join us ...we want to hear from you.
A final note about how outstanding our students are at ALAH. We had ten seniors earn a spot in the Millikin Honors Band Sunday and Monday. The concert was held on Monday evening at Kirkland and was absolutely amazing. Our students had participated in workshops with college and professional musicians on Sunday and Monday to prepare and then performed with other high school students from all over central Illinois. It was quite the transition from a busy marching band performance to concert band! Speaking of our marching band, congratulations to them for earning 3rd place at the University of Illinois on Saturday! Our Cross Country team WON REGIONALS and is headed to sectionals on Saturday. Junior Logan Beckmier won the whole event! Our volleyball team lost in the first round of regionals, but left it all on the floor. They took the Monticello Sages to three sets and almost had them. What a season. We had 11 FFA members attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on Wednesday and Thursday where among other activities they were able to watch a rodeo! And finally, our football team is heading into the postseason tonight for the first round of playoffs against Pana! All of this plus an enormous amount of learning. Now that’s a week at ALAH HS!
Have a great weekend and #GOKNIGHTS!
