Hello Knight Families:
Last night our FFA celebrated their year with the annual FFA Banquet. Watching our students talk about their year and highlight their accomplishments, seeing students with their families and enjoying a meal together, it almost felt like normal times! A special thank you goes to our outgoing officers, President - Rachel Kinney. Vice President - Jace Green, Secretary - Michaela Powell, Treasurer - Clark Peck., Reporter - Payton Rawlins, Sentinel - Quentin Day, and Historian - Ashley Seegmiller. This team has done a wonderful job of leading FFA through this challenging year. I am looking forward to next year’s leadership team: President - Jace Green, Vice President - Michaela Powell, Secretary - Quentin Day, Treasurer - Ashley Seegmiller, Sentinel - Aaron Seegmiller, Historian - Logan Beckmier, Farm Manager - Tanner Beckmier, and Assistant Farm Managers - Wyatt Hilligoss & Lyle Adcock.
Tickets go on sale today for our school play! Our box office (actually the high school office) is open to students during the day. Tickets are $2 for students and $3 for adults. Tickets are sold in groups of two and you may purchase tickets in any combination, but you must sit with your group. Family and community members may call the box office at 543-2146 to reserve their seats. Tickets may then be picked up at the performance.
Just a reminder that our seniors and juniors who have a C average or higher in all of their classes do not have to remain on campus for study hall. This opportunity will start on Monday, May 3rd for sophomores and freshmen. Students are required to stay on campus when there is a class meeting or organization meeting, if they need extra help or to make up work and teachers may request your student to stay to provide support for their academic progress. Of course, all students are welcome to stay!
We have a new service club that has started. They have named themselves Knights in Action and are working on providing service opportunities for our students. They started out by organizing a group of volunteers to pick up trash around our campus late last week! What a difference many hands and a little time can make. Keep an eye out for our Knights in Action making a difference!
This week I was able to listen to three student presentations with Mr. Cheek about some changes the students would like to see at the high school. Powerful stuff! The projects involved landscaping our new greenhouse, and improving our parking lot and weight room. Hearing the passion our students have for our school and watching them make professional presentations that have been well researched and organized fills me with pride. But even more than pride, it fills me with excitement as I know our students are going to leave these hallways and make a difference in our world ! What a great week at ALAH.
Next week our student body will be electing next year’s class officers and student council representatives. The halls are filled with posters, candidates running for class president have made speeches and campaign slides are running on our tv’s! Exciting times as we have our own politics happening.
Tomorrow morning baseball and softball are celebrating their senior student athletes with the baseball team playing at the Lovington field at 11 and the softball team in Atwood at 11. #GoKnights.
Remember, today is the last Friday we have school for this school year!
Enjoy the weekend.
Mrs. Seegmiller
