Weekend Update Logo

Hello Knight Families:

It is hard to believe that we only have about 20 school days until graduation!  Semester exams are around the corner.  Remember we do not have school on Fridays in May.  These are our unused emergency days.  We will continue to post updated sports schedules and activities on our website and social media.  Spring weather always brings changes to our plans.

Next week we will be having our class elections.  It is exciting that we will be able to hold a class meeting, socially distanced and masked, of course.  Seniors will be gathering on Monday to hear the latest details on activities in May including graduation. I am going to say it again, I can’t believe how quickly the end of the year is approaching.

On April 27, we will be giving our make-up SAT and the state required science test to all juniors. Juniors will take the test in the morning and then be allowed to leave for the day.  We will still serve lunch.  Students that remain on campus, will be allowed to be in the library with free time. This science test is a new state assessment for the juniors. I know the Class of 2022 is a bit tired of testing, but we are almost there!  Please encourage your student to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast (FREE AT SCHOOL for every student).

Beginning this school year, we added an incentive for students earning a C average in all of their classes, or higher, that they did not have to remain on campus for their 8th hour study hall.  Because of all of our restrictions, plus the reduced schedule, we have not been able to offer this incentive. Until now!  Beginning today with our senior class, Wednesday, April 28th our Junior Class and May 3rd for sophomores and freshmen, this will go into effect.  Students are required to stay on campus when there is a class meeting or organization meeting, if they need extra help or to make up work and teachers may request your student to stay to provide support for their academic progress.  Of course, all students are welcome to stay!

The Douglas County Health Department wanted us to share that  there is a clinic for 16 and 17-year-olds within our school district who want to receive the Pfizer vaccines.  Please know that they have a very limited supply.  The clinic will be Tuesday, April 27 from 4-4:30 p.m. at the main DCHD office (1250 E. US Hwy. 36). They MUST RESERVE A SLOT by calling DCHD at 217-253-4137 option 2 and leave their name, DOB, and contact information (phone # and email address).  Please print and complete this form. You will need to take it with you to the appointment. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We hope to see you tonight at our final home football game or maybe tomorrow at baseball, softball or track!  Catch all of the updates on our Facebook and Twitter!

Have a great weekend. Mrs. Seegmiller
