Good afternoon Knight Families:
This week’s email is loaded with information. A few things that are COVID related (like free breakfast and lunch for everyone) but also include non-COVID items. And that is just refreshing
First, we are having a Senior Parent Meeting on Wednesday, September 16, evening at 5:00 p.m. This will be virtual, parents of seniors can join by phone or computer. You will receive the information on how to connect Tuesday in your email. We will be talking about the SAT, senior trip, graduation, etc. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me seegmillers@cusd305.org. The meeting will last about 30 minutes.
Get your Knight Gear! If you would like to order Knights Spirit Wear the BSN order shop is open for orders online until Sept. 14th. It is a great opportunity to order your Knight clothes!
We have picture day scheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd. It will, of course, look a little different, but we are excited to be able to have this. More information about how to order pictures will be available next week. Look for on-line ordering options. Seniors athletes and band members will be making appointments for their senior banner picture to be taken. Remote learners will also be able to make an appointment to come in for their pictures as well. Details will be in your student’s emails next week.
Free Lunch, yes free lunch and breakfast! The U.S. Department of Agriculture extended the Summer Food Service Program waiver from September 1 to December 31. This means all students can get breakfast and lunch FREE from every school day until the end of first semester! Please note that a la carte items like chips and bottled drinks are not included but are still available for purchase. If you are unsure what is or is not included in free breakfast and lunch - just ask!
Food PantryThe Knight's Table is an opportunity for anyone in the high school to order free food items every day from the Google form put in the daily announcements. It is easy to use and when ordered by 11:45 am it will be available for pick up in the cafeteria at the end of the day.
This is Suicide Prevention Month and each day this week ALAH Counselor Kaitlyn Bright shared information during announcements. This can be a difficult topic, but it is important to talk about to encourage everyone’s safety and well-being. If you or someone you care about is experiencing suicidal thoughts or intentions, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text the Crisis Text Line by texting the word HOME to 741741.phone
Please remind your student to check and read their emails frequently. Teachers reach out to students via email about classwork and changes that may be happening in their classes.
One of our favorite nights in the fall is welcoming our parents and community members to meet our faculty and staff and see our school. Since we aren’t allowed to have visitors in our building, we are planning a Virtual Open House. This will be at the end of the month, on Monday, September 28th. Stay tuned for more details!
Our student elections were last week! Congratulations to every student that ran for a position. It takes courage to run for office, even at the high school level. Our Student Council had their first meeting this week and are off to a great start. We are looking forward to seeing what their plans include for us in the coming weeks!

We will continue to communicate with parents through emails when there are developments at school. Hopefully, you received your email yesterday regarding a positive case at the high school. This reminds us to continue to follow the IDPH and ISBE guidelines carefully. Wearing masks, staying 6 feet apart, washing hands and certifying before school are all making a difference and helping the situation.
Enjoy the weekend ...
Mrs. Seegmiller
