Hello Knight Family:

This morning, three of our students were on their way to Eastern Illinois University to participate in the Special Olympics. Unfortunately, while en route, they received word that the event had been canceled due to weather. While the news was disappointing, our school community responded in true Knight style. Our student body quickly rallied to create a mini Special Olympics right here at school. We hosted a grand Olympic march into the gym, cheered on our athletes as they competed in the 50-yard dash and softball throw, celebrated their victories with medals, and wrapped up the morning with a special pizza lunch. It was a powerful reminder of the spirit, support, and heart that make our school such a special place. Go Knights!

There is quite the buzz in the hallways of ALAH.  A few of our science students discovered that one of our turtles had five babies in the pond of our courtyard.  Following this, there has been research, discussions, cleaning of the pond, a delivery of an injured baby to the University of Illinois Wildlife Vet Clinic and plans to make our courtyard even better.

Tuesday evening our CEO students will be hosting their annual TradeShow.  This is what they have been working towards since August.  The event is free, open to the public and is being held at Building 1225 in Sullivan from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday evening is our Families Stronger Together night starting at 5:30.  Our theme this month is relaxation.  The evening includes dinner and activities to destress!  Who doesn’t need this? Call the office at 217-543-2146 to RSVP.  This event is open to all ALAH students and their parents/guardians.

The week of May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Week, and while elementary students often find fun ways to celebrate their teachers, high school teachers are sometimes overlooked. We’d love your help in changing that!  We encourage you and your student to send a quick note or email to thank your student’s teachers for their hard work and dedication. A few kind words can go a long way. We’re also looking for a few parent volunteers to help organize a couple of small surprises for our staff that week. If you’re interested in helping out, please reach out — we’d love to have you!

Junior parents, please remind your students to turn in their post prom forms to the office ASAP!

Senior parents, we leave for Washington D.C. one week from tomorrow!  It is time to start the packing list!
