Hello Knight Family:

On Wednesday, we welcomed a speaker from Steered Straight to address one of the most pressing public health crises affecting our youth today—vaping. The statistics are alarming: 68% of high school students report using e-cigarettes in the past 30 days, with THC vape use at an all-time high. Research shows that vaping increases the risk of depression and anxiety by 55% and significantly raises the chances of stroke and heart disease. While the long-term effects on lung health are still unknown, the immediate dangers are undeniable. Students were given the opportunity to turn in their vapes without school consequences, yet no one did. This underscores the importance of ongoing conversations at home. We encourage you to discuss these dangers with your student and reinforce the message they heard this week. A special thank you to Connie Gyorr and her organization, Marissa’s Hope, for making this important presentation possible.

It’s that time of year again—we need your help with the 5Essentials Survey! Our goal is for at least 30% of our families to participate, as your feedback plays a crucial role in shaping our school policies, improving our programs, and even guiding what we teach in the classroom. The survey is completely confidential, and while we see the percentage of families who complete it, we only receive overall results later in the year. Students and faculty will also be participating, making it a valuable opportunity to ensure all voices are heard. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by Friday, March 28. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call the office—we appreciate your input!

Congratulations to two of our seniors, Maddie Kingery and Hailey Blagg, who passed their CNA test this week in their Health Occupations class!  Their hard work all year has paid off. We also want to give a shout out to Abigail Miller for winning her district FFA Proficiency in the area of Agriculture Services. She will move on to the State Competition on March 22.

Last night our National Honor Society inducted 21 new members.  This month 19 students were nominated for Student of the Month and honored at a breakfast this morning.  Our winner for  February Student of the Month is Reece Oye.  Congratulations to all of our students and their hard work.

Don’t forget that Mamma Mia is next weekend!  See show times below. Admissions are $4 for adults and $2 for students.  We hope to see you there.
