Hello Knight Family:

Today, we celebrated one of our favorite annual traditions—Student Council’s Winter Follies! Nine talented acts took the stage, with Student Council president Maggie Benedict keeping the energy high as emcee, even testing the audience’s knowledge with teacher trivia between performances. (Did you know we have a trained scuba diver on staff?) The competition for the coveted traveling trophy—a decorated, signed plunger with a history spanning decades—was fierce. Fun fact: this beloved tradition began in the early ‘90s as an air guitar and lip-sync contest! Our students showed incredible talent and bravery—after all, could you stand in front of 300 peers and teachers to sing? And here’s another exciting bit of trivia: one of our alumni first showcased their talent on this very stage and now has a signed record deal!

FFA is always one of our busiest groups of students. Last week, they attended a horse judge competition and this week we had 4 students competing in our sectionals in Mahomet. We are excited to announce that Abigail Miller, Anna Rawlins and Will Hilligoss have earned their state degrees and Adyson Hopkins, Abigail Miller and Anna Rawlins won their proficiency areas and are moving on to the district level in March.  Their hard work has paid off. Next week is National FFA Week. Our FFA has been busy planning dress up days (see below) and we will end the week with Ag Olympics on Friday afternoon.  We are looking forward to another great Friday.

Our girls basketball team competes in the first round of regionals tomorrow (Saturday) and the boys enter their final week of the regular season, with home games on Tuesday and Friday.  Don’t forget that there is no school on Monday, February 17th, to give us a long three day weekend.
