Hello Knight Family:

Today began with our own Polar Express adventure as we navigated through the snow to cheer on our Knights at Cerro Gordo High School during the second annual Corn Bowl. It was an incredible experience for everyone to have our band, cheerleaders, and basketball players come together to perform for both student bodies. We also took a moment to send a heartfelt video message to Charlie, a Mt. Zion student currently in critical condition in the hospital. The day was a perfect way to wrap up our first week of 2025. Our girls proudly brought home the Corn Bowl Trophy—filled with corn, of course—while our boys played hard but narrowly lost in a very close game.

Did you know the number one thing you can do to help your student succeed in high school?  Make them go to school! Attendance is like the secret sauce to your student’s success—it’s what makes everything come together! We need your student at school every day, even on those early dismissal days. (yes, they count too!)  Missing a day here and there might not seem like a big deal, but those absences add up faster than your favorite Netflix series. Four days a month means 40 days a year—that’s like skipping an entire season of school! Over time, that’s 60 hours of math, 120 hours of reading and writing, and by graduation, they’ll have missed an entire year of high school. Yikes! Send them to school—because learning happens when they’re here, not when they’re hitting the snooze button!

Report cards are posted in your student’s Skyward account.  If you have any questions about your student’s grades or credits, please reach out to the office.

A quick reminder that at this point in the semester, ALL students are required to stay for study hall.  The math and writing center is open beginning on Monday.  This is a great place for students to get help on any math or English assignment.
