ALAH Weekend Update

Hello Knight Family:

We are CELEBRATING our faculty next week! In 1984, the first full week of May was established as National Teacher Appreciation Week.  This year that falls next week, May 6 - May 10th.  It is the perfect time to celebrate our outstanding faculty who dedicate so much of their lives to guiding our students.  This is a great opportunity for us to thank our teachers.  A handwritten note or an email, a phone call thanking them are all easy, impactful ways to make a difference in their lives. Thank you for considering taking a few extra minutes to make a difference next week.

We have more spring events coming up next week.  Our High School Band and Chorus Concert will be at 7:15 p.m. in the east gym  on Tuesday evening.  It will be a wonderful evening for our band and choral students in one of their final performances of the year and for some, the end of their high school career.  Our Honor’s Night is on Wednesday at 7pm. This night is a highlight of our calendar with many celebrations.  We will have over 40 presenters handing out scholarships to our seniors.  The seniors have spent hours studying over the last four years and more hours this year completing scholarship applications.  Last year over $300,000 in local scholarships were awarded.  We can hardly wait.  On Thursday we will have an all school Awards Assembly and on Friday, the Class of 2024 will walk the halls for their final day of high school.  Monday, May 13th will be their grade school visits and their cap and gown photos with a senior luncheon hosted by MasterBrand!

Finally, I would like to invite you to one of the upcoming Open Houses that the district will be hosting in May.  The Board of Education is working to determine if there should be a referendum on the ballot in November to remodel and update the high school.  There have been multiple focus groups including students, teachers, parents and community members to discuss what the needs are.  There were common themes that came out of these meetings and have led to a plan that is being considered.  The open houses will give you the opportunity to see the building and the potential plan. Attached is a flier with all of the details.
