Hello Knight Family:
This week in physics, our students have been building a Rube Goldberg machine. What is a Rube Goldberg Machine? It is a machine that is intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and complicated way, using a chain reaction. The goal for their specific project was to turn the light on when the door was opened. Simple enough, right? Imagine dominos, toy cars, golf balls, fishing lines and wooden blocks. Science rocks! If you are the parent of a junior, remember that on Tuesday, March 5th our juniors will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment. The State of Illinois requires all juniors to take this science assessment. The test will take about three hours and then the juniors will have an hour-long lunch. All other students will be on a 1:00 bell schedule in order for us to have an all school assembly in the afternoon led by Tim Ryan who is recognized as A&E's “Dope Man” and a substance abuse interventionist. He will be joined by Jennifer Gimenez-Ryan, a world-renowned model, actress, substance abuse counselor, and reality TV star. They will share their personal experiences and insights on substance abuse and recovery with our student body. There is also a presentation for parents on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m at Monticello High School. The public is invited to attend!
On Wednesday, March 6th our yearbook staff will be taking group pictures. This will be for any club or organization. It will be a busy morning as we have over 20 different groups currently scheduled!
Field trips, track meetings, Solo and Ensemble contest and our spring play make for a very hectic first week in March. Coming up is an early dismissal on Thursday, March 14th and Spring Break kicks off the following week. Check our school website and social media for all of our activities.
