Hello Knight Family:
On Wednesday evening we hosted Freshman Orientation and welcomed the Class of 2028 with their parents. We had so many of our students helping out for this event. Students helped us straighten up the hallways, set up tables and chairs, work the table to invite freshmen to join extracurricular activities, gave tours and stayed around to help clean up! For an incoming freshman it is great to meet a teacher but even better to be greeted by a friendly high school student. I have heard from our faculty how polite, considerate and professional our students were along with multiple comments from parents that attended the event with their freshman. So thank you parents for raising great students and helping us welcome the next class at ALAH.
Next Friday night we will be having our final home basketball game which will include not only a tough basketball contest against Sullivan but also our pep band, cheerleaders and winter guard performing. There is absolutely something for everyone. It is also senior night where we will be recognizing our senior boys basketball players, cheerleaders, winter guard members, and pep band members.
A new tradition that our Student Council is starting is a MORP. (That’s prom backwards.) A fun dance that involves no dates, flowers, dresses, suits, etc. Just a space for our students to dance and have fun. This is for our student body only. It will be from the end of the basketball game until 10:30 p.m. Your student will receive more details next week.
A few announcements that we made today and we would appreciate your help with reminding your students. It takes all of us to keep our building looking the best.
Please do not enter or exit through the west gym doors. We are tracking salt, mud, snow, etc. and it is hurting our gym floors. We only enter/exit through the gym foyer doors.
Remember we do NOT prop doors open, even if it is just for a minute.
Never let anyone into the building. Everyone must buzz in through the front west doors.
Please pick up your trash inside and outside the building.
Each year the state of Illinois requires each school district to give the 5 Essentials survey to their students, faculty and parents. These results are reported on our annual school report card, but more importantly we use your feedback to make improvements in what we do. We would appreciate a few minutes of your time to take this survey and provide us your insights. The survey is anonymous. We only know the percentage of families that take it, not who or how anyone responds. Of course, let me know if you have any questions.
