Hello Knight Family:

As we wrap up our parent-teacher conferences, we are preparing for a big weekend followed by another big week at ALAH!  We are excited to have two runners in the sectional cross country meet on Saturday morning and to be able to host the first round of playoffs on Saturday afternoon.  A busy Saturday is an understatement.

Our Student Council Halloween Costume Contest is Tuesday morning and on Wednesday, Nov. 1st our Student Council is hosting a blood drive at school. Anyone is welcome to sign up, just follow this link  Blood Drive Sign Up.  It only takes a few minutes and anyone 16 years and older is eligible to donate.  Every person that donates saves the lives of up to three people!  If you have more questions, we are including a link to  Commonly asked questions.

Our FFA is heading to Indianapolis for their National Convention.  We have a large group going for a day trip as well as a group going for three days. There will be a sea of blue coats and I have no doubt that they will come back on fire with ideas!

We also have a group of future teachers heading to Illinois State University to attend a Future Educators Conference! Nothing is more exciting than watching our very own graduates look at becoming educators and maybe even joining our faculty someday!

Another big event next week happens on Thursday evening at 6 pm when Dr. Steve Webb will be presenting, “How parents can protect their children in a violent world…Are you ready?”  We will have pizza and drinks from 5:00 - 5:45.  You can still RSVP!  The event is free and open to parents, students and community members.  This promises to be a relevant presentation that will leave you better prepared for our world.

And finally, I am looking for a few parent volunteers to serve on an advisory council for the high school. This Parent Advisory Committee will meet monthly beginning in November and go through  April.  We will  cover everything from the handbook to how we can make the high school experience better.  If you are interested, please email me at seegmillers@cusd305.org before Friday, November 3rd.
