Hello Knight Family:

Did you know that 1 in 5 teenagers will experience a mental health crisis before they are 18?  And, the first person they often go to is a friend. With these statistics, and a national trend on the increase of drug use and mental health crises among teenagers, we are partnering with Douglas County Mental Health, RISE Behavior Health and Wellness Center and the University of Illinois Extension to bring Teen Mental Health First Aid to our students.  On Mondays beginning on October 16 for six weeks we will be bringing Teen Mental Health First Aid training for all 10th -12th grade students. This will happen during your student’s PE class. This is an education program designed to help teens help teens talk about mental health concerns and how/where to get help. This program is NOT teaching students to diagnose and we are not providing therapy. Students will not be asked to share personal information or situations. There is a video embedded in this Google form with all of the details for you to learn more about the program. Of course you have the option for your student to not participate. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call and talk with me. Again, this form has more information, a video and consent. Moving forward this training will be given to our sophomores. We are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity for our students.

A reminder to parents and families of our juniors that they will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday morning.  After the class is finished they will have an hour long lunch before returning to their regular schedule.  The PSAT/NMSQT is given nationally and will give our faculty data to help plan instruction based on student’s strengths and weaknesses.  This is a digital test. Please encourage your student to get a good night’s sleep on Tuesday night, eat a good breakfast and bring their Chromebook fully charged

After Friday's win ALAH Knights are officially headed to the IHSA State Playoffs!  It’s not too late to order your football playoff gear!   ORDERS ARE DUE OCT 22nd.  Orders will arrive before the first round of playoffs the weekend of October 27th.
