Weekly Wrap

Dear Knight Families,

Spelling Bee

Our students competed in the district wide Spelling Bee on February 23 in Monticello. Congratulations to Ben Newhouse. He placed second and will advance to the District Spelling Bee in March! We are so proud of our students and we are excited to see Ben move on!

5 Essentials Survey

You should have received an email regarding the 5 Essentials Survey. Please DO NOT ignore this email. We are asking parents to take a few minutes to fill out this survey. We use these results to assess the progress of our district. It is very important that you give your input. The results are compiled and put into our Illinois State Report Card. Please use the link above to access the survey. Please choose "Douglas" county when asked to choose the county of the school.  This survey ends March 11. We need at least 20% of our parents to fill it out to get the results.

Reading Goal:  We are still working towards our goal of reading 20,000 books for the year. Currently we are a little over 10,000. Encourage your child to pick up a good book and read! Remember they have the chance to earn individual badges of bronze, silver, and gold.

PBIS: Our third quarter goal is focusing on completing work in a timely manner. Our goal is that 80% of work throughout the school will be completed and turned in on time. You can help by having your child check their assignment book each night to make sure they are caught up on work. It is very important that students complete the work assigned to them. Teachers use this work along with classroom work and assessments to ensure students are mastering standards being taught to them.

We sent home some information regarding our end of the quarter reward party. We are in need of donations. In case you missed it I have included the information and items needed below.  Thank you for your help in providing these items! We are excited to celebrate with our students.

March 11th we will be premiering the new movie, Turning Red!

We are counting on the kids to meet the goal as we focus on kids turning in work on time. We will send more information to come as the movie premier gets closer.

We are going to be popping popcorn for all students but are asking for some help from families for a few items to make this reward even more special. If you are able to send in any items we would greatly appreciate it. Please send donated items to school by March 1.

K-2- Juice Pouches

3-5- boxed candy

6-8- canned soda

Don't forget-  Spring Pictures are March 2 and Yearbook orders are due March 4. Please send the order form and money with your student to turn into the office!

Have a wonderful weekend!
