Dear Knight Families,
What a week! I hope everyone enjoyed the snow and the snow days! I enjoyed some quality time at home and even enjoyed playing in the snow a little. It was good to be back in the classroom this week! There have been quite a few changes over the last few days when it comes to dealing with COVID. Please do not stop calling your child in if they are sick. If your child is symptomatic we will still need to follow the testing protocol to return. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Spelling Bee
We held our classroom Spelling Bee competition last week and our school wide Spelling Bee was held Monday, February 7. We had to reschedule it due to the snow days last week. Our winners from the school-wide Spelling Bee will represent AHGS in the County Spelling Bee on February 17. Congratulations to all of our winners!

You should have received an email regarding the 5 Essentials Survey. Please DO NOT ignore this email. We are asking parents to take a few minutes to fill out this survey. We use these results to assess the progress of our district. It is very important that you give your input. The results are compiled and put into our Illinois State Report Card. Please use the link above to access the survey. Please choose "Douglas" county when asked to choose the county of the school. This survey ends March 11. We need at least 20% of our parents to fill it out to get the results.
Reading Goal: We are still working towards our goal of reading 20,000 books for the year. Currently we are at 9481. Encourage your child to pick up a good book and read! Remember they have the chance to earn individual badges of bronze, silver, and gold.
PBIS: Our third quarter goal is focusing on completing work in a timely manner. Our goal is that 80% of work throughout the school will be completed and turned in on time. You can help by having your child check their assignment book each night to make sure they are caught up on work. It is very important that students complete the work assigned to them. Teachers use this work along with classroom work and assessments to ensure students are mastering standards being taught to them.
This week we met our goal as a school. We had 88% of our assignments turned in!
Valentine Activity: Your child should have brought home the Valentine activity last Monday or Tuesday. I have attached the letter that went home with the kids. My goal is to show the kids how much they are loved. I included all of the pieces needed for you to make a Valentine Jar for your kiddo(s). I ask that you complete the activity and take a picture of your child with the Valentine. Please email the picture to me at nallk@cusd305.org. I want to flood our social media with positive vibes and show our students how much they are loved. I hope you enjoy doing it for them!
Here is an example on how to complete them!
