Dear Knight Families,
We continue to thank you for your support. A huge thank you to the families for continuing to help guide your students through remote learning. It is not ideal for anyone, but our students and teachers are doing the best they can! Don't ever hesitate to reach out if you have questions! Please remember that if your child is on remote they need to be logging on (if the teacher is going live) or completing packets as best they can to stay up with the class. It is extremely difficult to get students caught up if they have not completed any work while they were out on quarantine. With that being said, we also understand if your child is too sick to log on that they will require some make-up days to get caught up. Please follow the guidelines below when your child is home.
1. If your child is sick please make sure you call the office at 578-2229 to report it. We have protocol and guidelines that we need to follow and our office staff is prepared to walk you through them. Due to the number of students going in and out of the classroom we are giving the teachers 24 hours to gather materials and work. If your child is quarantined and is not feeling well enough to join classes online (if they are asked to do that) please email the teacher or call the office and let us know your child will not be joining online that day.
2. If your student or someone in your household tests positive please communicate that with us as soon as possible. We are working diligently with families to make sure we not only follow the proper procedures, but that we also get your student back into the classroom as quick as we can.
4. If you have been identified as a close contact please let the office know so we can walk you through that protocol as well. "Close contact" means an individual who is within 6 feet of a confirmed or probable case for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more in a 24-hour period without wearing a mask properly.
You should have received an email regarding the 5 Essentials Survey. Please DO NOT ignore this email. We are asking parents to take a few minutes to fill out this survey. We use these results to assess the progress of our district. It is very important that you give your input. The results are compiled and put into our Illinois State Report Card. Please use the link above to access the survey. Please choose "Douglas" county when asked to choose the county of the school. This survey ends March 11. We need at least 20% of our parents to fill it out to get the results.
Reading Goal: We are still working towards our goal of reading 20,000 books for the year. Currently we are at 8941. Encourage your child to pick up a good book and read! Remember they have the chance to earn individual badges of bronze, silver, and gold.
PBIS: Our third quarter goal is focusing on completing work in a timely manner. Our goal is that 80% of work throughout the school will be completed and turned in on time. You can help by having your child check their assignment book each night to make sure they are caught up on work. It is very important that students complete the work assigned to them. Teachers use this work along with classroom work and assessments to ensure students are mastering standards being taught to them.
This week we met our goal as a school. We had 88% of our assignments turned in!
Valentine Activity: Your child will be bringing home a Valentine activity for parents next week. I have attached the letter that is going home with the kids. My goal is to show the kids how much they are loved. I will include all of the pieces needed for you to make a Valentine Jar for your kiddo(s). I ask that you complete the activity and take a picture of your child with the Valentine. Please email the picture to me at nallk@cusd305.org. I want to flood our social media with positive vibes and show our students how much they are loved. I hope you enjoy doing it for them!
Here is an example on how to complete them!
