Weekly Wrap

Friday, November 5, 2021

We completed another busy week at AHGS! Congratulations to our 7th grade Junior High Girls basketball team. They were the conference champions in the tournament last week! Junior High Boys have started their season. Their home games will be played in Lovington.

Wednesday, November 3 we held our first community engagement meeting regarding our facilities. This group is meeting to discuss a long term plan for our facilities. The next in person meeting is December 1. If you have not liked the page on Facebook please do that so you can stay up to date on the information. The Facebook page is called U-Knight 305. There are also virtual meetings being held. I have pasted the flyer below! Please check it out and get involved!

The students are a few days into their fundraiser. Packets went home on Monday.  Please check out the packet with you child. The fundraiser ends November 16. This is the only fundraiser PTO does. The money earned from this fundraiser helps with all kinds of things for the kids and teachers.

Here are a few of the things our PTO helps with:

  • Kona Ice for a special treat for  students
  • Knights cups for each student
  • Dinner for teachers during conferences
  • Field trips
  • Classroom supplies

Please help us out and try and sell a few items for your student.

I want to take a moment to remind you that students will continue to go outside for recess. As the weather gets colder please make sure your child is bringing a coat and hats/mittens if needed.

We will be participating in the Veteran's Day program on November 11. The program is put on by our local American Legion and it will take place at Rajah Park this year. The program begins at 10:00am. Our students will be walking over to the part to join in the program. We are excited to hear our junior high band perform as well as chorus and music classes singing. We are honored to have Bella Romine, Annelise Ponder, Mace Stirrett, and Solly Binion reading a special poem at the program as well.

Have a wonderful weekend!
