Arthur CUSD #305 is thrilled to share the remarkable progress made by its dedicated staff in the enhancement of curriculum from the fall of 2021 to the spring of 2023. Through rigorous collaboration, careful planning, and a commitment to educational excellence, the district has successfully identified curriculum priority standards for each course, developed scope and sequencing for all subjects and grade levels, and established pacing guides for new teachers.
“The amount of work, collaboration, and dedication the staff has committed to this process has been exciting to witness,” said district Superintendent, Mr. Shannon Cheek. “We are at a point where new staff members who enter the district now have a tangible roadmap to follow in their preparations for students and their learning. I couldn’t be more proud of the progress [our educators] have made.”
The district’s dedication to improving educational outcomes for its students continues into the 2023-24 school year. The next phase of revamping the curriculum involves the development of priority standards-aligned assessments. These assessments allow teachers to measure student progress and identify areas for improvement while simultaneously guiding their instructional practices. By closely aligning assessments with curriculum priority standards, the district can ensure its students are receiving the education they deserve and are adequately prepared for future pursuits both in and out of the classroom.
“We are excited to begin the assessment work next school year. Aligning standards to our assessments, reviewing the data from those assessments, and collaborating with each other to strategize how we can better serve students and increase learning is exciting. We are looking forward to what next year brings,” Mr. Cheek added.
