Good morning,

On June 23rd, we received guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education regarding what a return to school in the Fall of 2020 could look like.  The 60-page document provides a lot of guidance and some mandates that school districts in the state are expected to follow.

Some of the mandates of interests are listed below:

*Require use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including face coverings *Prohibit more than 50 individuals from gathering in one space *Require social distancing be observed, as much as possible *Require an increase in schoolwide cleaning and disinfection *Require that schools conduct symptom screenings and temperature checks or require that individuals self-certify that they are free of symptoms before entering school buildings

Fortunately, we began the process of discussing and planning for what a safe return to school will look like for all of our students in the Fall of 2020.  Starting at the end of May we assembled a remote learning planning committee comprised of several teachers and administrators that have been consistently meeting to research and discuss ideas for safely returning to school.  This has been one of the most challenging tasks many of us have been faced with in our professional careers, but we are committed to continuing the work for our students and communities.  The next step in this process will be for us to gather some input from you.  We are asking that you fill out the brief survey below by Friday, July 10th.  This information will be invaluable in helping us plan for a safe return in the Fall.

We fully expect our plans to change and evolve over time as the guidance and mandates continue to change.  Because of those potential changes, we appreciate your patience during the process.  We miss you and your students and want to try and develop a plan that will continue to provide the safest environment for all to return.

Thank you,

Mr. Shannon Cheek
