Hi! My name is Bobbi Ward and it is my pleasure to serve as the school counselor at Atwood-Hammond Grade school.  While I served in both Lovington and Atwood schools during the 2018-2019 school year, this year I am working solely in the Atwood school.
As the school counselor I have the joy of working with students through classroom lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling.  I also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students.
It is my pleasure to help students with promoting positive attitudes among students towards self, family, peers, and community.

Below are some of the topics that might be discussed during counseling:
*Making friends
*Liking myself
*Getting along with others
*Dealing with parents divorce
*Being a "new kid"
*Bullying
*Learning and responsibility
*Sexual abuse
*Being honest
*Drug and alcohol use

Character Education Classes:
Throughout the school year I visit each classroom multiple times and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons.  Lessons typically last 30 minutes and cover topics such as school readiness skills, understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, friendship skills and study skills.

Small Group Counseling:
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar life situations.

Individual Counseling:
Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges.
